I’m just an average high school student. I’m stuck trying to face the traffic of the school body walking the halls with the teachers herding them into the classes like a pack of sheep. If you didn’t get there on time they would either suspend you or your expelled. It’s the New Year, and yet there’s gossip already floating in the air.

The only family I had left was my older brother, Jake, and my father, Don. The dove and the crow Chp.1 I could hear his distinctive footsteps ascend up the staircase. I hid in the safety of my bedroom wardrobe, praying he wouldn’t find me. Each creak grew louder.
